Opening hours on WordPress: the free plugin (with a live open/closed badge)

On most small business WordPress sites, opening hours are typed by hand into the footer or the Contact page. That works… until the first public holiday, the summer closure or the switch to winter hours. The site then shows the wrong hours, different from your Google listing, and the customer finds the door locked.

Here is how to show hours that are always right on WordPress, with the free Horair plugin.

Why not just type your hours in a page?

  • Nothing is dated: a “Closed on December 26” line stays online until someone remembers to remove it.
  • Google doesn’t understand a paragraph: without openingHoursSpecification structured data, your hours are just text.
  • Caches lie: with WP Rocket, LiteSpeed or W3 Total Cache, an edited page can keep being served in its old version.
  • Several places to maintain: website, Google profile, Facebook page. As soon as they disagree, confusion follows.

What the Horair plugin for WordPress does

  • Weekly hours (two time slots per day, for a lunch break) and special hours: public holidays, closures, Sunday openings.
  • “Opening hours” Gutenberg block and [horair_hours] shortcode, working with every theme and page builder (Elementor, Divi…).
  • Live open/closed badge ([horair_badge]): 27 styles, from a neon sign to trade emblems (florist, bakery, pizzeria…), with seasonal decorations.
  • schema.org openingHoursSpecification generated automatically, compatible with Yoast SEO and Rank Math.
  • Page caches cleared on every change.

The plugin works on its own: you enter your hours in WordPress, no Horair account needed.

Install it in 2 minutes

  1. Download the Horair WordPress plugin (zip file).
  2. In WordPress: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, pick the zip, then Activate.
  3. Open the Opening hours menu and enter your week and your special dates.
  4. Add the “Opening hours” block to your Contact page or footer.

Requires WordPress 6.5 and PHP 7.4. Translated into English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

Going further: one place for Google, Facebook and your site

Connected to Horair, the plugin becomes one channel among others: in Horair, open your location → Channels → Website plugin, copy the key and paste it into the plugin.

From then on, you edit your hours wherever you like (in WordPress, in the Horair app or even over WhatsApp) and Google, Facebook and your website follow within seconds. Holiday hours are scheduled once for the whole year. That’s the point of syncing your hours across every platform.

Not on WordPress?

Horair is also available for PrestaShop, Magento and Wix. On any other site, a single line of code adds the open/closed badge.
